Iran, Russia determined to expand academic relations

Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Saeed Salimi said on Sunday that Iran and Russia are determined to deepen academic relations, IRNA reported.

Referring to a gathering of chancellors and senior officials of more than 30 top Iranian and Russian universities in Moscow, Salimi said that the event indicated resolve of both sides for scientific and research cooperation. Noting that the Ministry of Science supports cooperation with foreign universities, Salimi said that the gathering in Moscow prepared the ground for scientific cooperation between the two countries.

Salimi visited Russia at the head of a delegation comprising chancellors of top Iranian universities from October 24-30 for a gathering at Moscow State University.

The University of Tehran, Sharif University of Technology, Shahid Beheshti University, Science and Technology University, Khaje Nasir Toosi University of Technology, Allameh Tabatabaei University, Tabriz University, Isfahan University, the University of Shiraz and Ferdowsi University of Mashad represented the Iranian universities.

Iran's ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei has described the convention as a 'big and unprecedented' academic event in Iran-Russia ties.
